Controls Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $128,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Develop and implement control system solutions to optimize production processes and efficiency.
• Integrate new automation machinery and components into existing manufacturing lines.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, software, and automation related issues on the production floor.
• Ensure all control systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production teams on automated systems.
• Manage and execute control system upgrade projects from conception through commissioning.

Recommended Qualifications

• Expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
• Proficiency in HMI/SCADA system design and implementation.
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug complex automation systems.
• Experience with industrial electrical control panel design and schematics.
• Familiarity with machine safety standards and their application in control systems.

Bonus Qualifications

• Robotics programming experience (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
• Industrial vision system (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) development and integration.
• MES/SCADA integration experience (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware).
• Database development/querying skills (e.g., SQL) for data logging and reporting.
