Salary Range: $55,000 - $82,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Grand Haven that are seeking skilled Buyers. Key Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, components, and MRO items.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
• Generate and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of materials.
• Monitor supplier performance, address non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material specifications are met.
• Manage inventory levels to optimize working capital while preventing stockouts and production delays.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality or supply continuity.

Recommended Qualifications

• Direct purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for procurement and inventory management.
• Demonstrated negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and understand manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles and inventory optimization.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex).
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprints, CAD files).
• Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CPIM).
