Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes and parameters for new and existing products.
• Troubleshoot laser welding equipment, processes, and quality issues, implementing corrective actions.
• Design and implement fixtures and tooling for precision laser welding applications.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and programming of laser welding systems.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of welded components.
• Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of laser welded joints.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation for laser welding.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in laser welding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
• Deep understanding of laser welding principles, metallurgy, material science, and their impact on weld quality for various alloys.
• Proficiency in operating, programming, and maintaining industrial laser welding systems (e.g., fiber, YAG, CO2 lasers).
• Experience with weld quality inspection methods (NDT/DT), statistical process control (SPC), and relevant industry standards (e.g., AWS D17.1).
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements for weld joint design.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with robotic welding systems and programming (e.g., KUKA, Fanuc, ABB).
• Proficiency in weld simulation software (e.g., Simufact Welding, SYSWELD).
• Advanced understanding of material science, especially for high-performance or dissimilar alloys.
• Knowledge of advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods for weld inspection (e.g., X-ray CT, phased array UT).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
