Staff Accountant | Newaygo, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and deferrals.
• Support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice processing and cash application.
• Aid in the preparation of financial statements and management reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
• Participate in inventory valuation and costing analysis, identifying variances and recommending improvements.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of internal controls and accounting policies.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise).
• Experience with inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted-average).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems specific to manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
• - Familiarity with cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted-average).
• - Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• - Certification such as CPA or CMA.
