Staff Accountant | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $62,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, and accounts payable.
• Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and collection.
• Participate in inventory valuation and cost accounting activities, analyzing variances and providing insights.
• Aid in the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather financial data and support operational decisions.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with cost accounting principles and variance analysis specific to manufacturing processes.
• - Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing environments (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• - Knowledge of inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted-average) and their impact on manufacturing costs.
• - Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance in a manufacturing setting.
