Salary Range: $69,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize new and existing tooling, fixtures, and molds for manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and modification of production tooling to ensure operational readiness and extend lifespan.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex tooling-related issues and production problems to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and quality teams to integrate tooling solutions and improve product manufacturability.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage tooling suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards.
  • Monitor tooling performance, quality, and lifespan, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for tooling designs, specifications, and maintenance procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for tooling design and modification.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, stamping, or casting.
  • Experience with tooling materials, heat treatment, and surface finishes for optimal performance and longevity.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tooling issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles for accurate tool and part specification.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification
  • Experience with advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, mold flow analysis)
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading tooling initiatives
  • Hands-on experience with toolroom machinery or machining processes
  • Knowledge of automation and robotics integration with tooling systems
