Salary Range: $54,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Perform complex machining operations using manual and CNC equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
  • Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot existing production tooling to ensure optimal performance.
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications to guide tool fabrication.
  • Conduct thorough quality inspections of finished tools and components to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify tooling improvements and solutions.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of machine shop equipment and precision measuring instruments.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Tool Maker or in a precision machining role.
  • Proficiency in operating a wide range of manual and CNC machine shop equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, GD&T, and using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Strong understanding of material properties, heat treatment processes, and tool design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Experience operating and/or programming CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) processes (wire or sinker).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
