Controls Engineer | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program PLC and HMI applications for automated manufacturing processes.
• Lead the commissioning, testing, and startup of new control systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, software, and mechanical automation issues.
• Optimize existing control systems for improved efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Develop and maintain detailed electrical schematics, control system documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and support automation solutions.
• Ensure all control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Recommended Qualifications

• Extensive experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens).
• Proficiency in designing and developing HMI/SCADA applications (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, Ignition).
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Demonstrated ability to commission, optimize, and troubleshoot complex automated manufacturing systems.
• Experience with industrial robotics, servo systems, or advanced motion control.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).
• Proficiency in vision system integration (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
• Familiarity with MES/SCADA integration or database technologies (SQL).
• Experience with high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, C#) for custom applications or data analysis.
