Controls Engineer | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical, control system, and automation issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Design, implement, and commission new control systems, automation projects, and equipment upgrades.
  • Integrate various control components, sensors, robotics, and vision systems into existing and new production lines.
  • Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, control system documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Ensure all control systems comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) programming and integration.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP).
  • Ability to design, troubleshoot, and commission electrical control systems and panels.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 62061) and their implementation.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
  • Proficiency with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, Sick).
  • Experience integrating control systems with databases (SQL) or MES/ERP platforms.
  • Familiarity with industrial network design and cybersecurity best practices for ICS.
