Staff Accountant | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• - Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• - Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices and payments.
• - Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• - Participate in inventory valuation and reconciliation.
• - Help with the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reports.
• - Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls.
• - Support the audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• - Analyze manufacturing variances and provide explanations for discrepancies.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Experience with inventory valuation, fixed asset accounting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted average).
• - Familiarity with cost accounting principles and practices within a manufacturing environment.
• - Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) for financial data management.
• - Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls.
• - Certification such as CPA or CMA.
