Weld Technician | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
• Set up and operate various welding equipment, including but not limited to MIG, TIG, and stick welders.
• Inspect welds for quality, integrity, and adherence to standards using visual inspection and appropriate measuring tools.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and beveling.
• Troubleshoot welding equipment and processes to identify and resolve issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration on welding equipment.
• Fabricate and assemble metal components and structures as required.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding preferred.
• Proven experience with various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications.
• Strong understanding of welding safety procedures and practices.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining welding equipment and tools.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform precise work.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with automated welding systems (e.g., robotic welding, seam welders)
• - Certified in specific welding processes beyond basic qualifications (e.g., TIG, MIG, Stick, Flux-Cored, Submerged Arc)
• - Familiarity with NDT methods (e.g., visual inspection, dye penetrant, magnetic particle)
• - Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and weld symbols
• - Basic understanding of metallurgy and material properties relevant to welding
