Salary Range: $57,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe machines using CAD/CAM software and manual G-code.
  • Select and specify appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding fixtures.
  • Perform program simulations, dry runs, and first article inspections to validate code and part quality.
  • Troubleshoot and debug CNC programs to resolve machining errors and improve efficiency.
  • Optimize machining parameters (feeds, speeds, depth of cut) to improve cycle times and surface finish.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for CNC programs, setup sheets, and tooling lists.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, Fusion 360) for CNC lathe programming.
  • Strong ability to read, write, and edit G-code and M-code manually.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting complex engineering blueprints, including GD&T.
  • In-depth knowledge of tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and material properties.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC lathe setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of quality control principles and use of precision measuring tools.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes or other CNC machinery.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software for part or fixture design (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Experience with mill-turn or multi-axis lathe programming.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology.
