Salary Range: $60,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC Swiss-type lathes according to specifications.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, optical comparators).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine setup procedures, machining sequences, and dimensions.
  • Load and unload parts, ensuring proper fixturing and material handling.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine alarms, tool wear issues, and quality deviations.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience operating and setting up CNC Swiss Lathes (e.g., Citizen, Star, Tsugami).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Ability to perform in-process quality inspections, make machine adjustments, and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Basic understanding of G-code and M-code for program editing and offset adjustments.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator, profilometer).
  • Proficiency in G-code editing and minor program adjustments.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize tooling and cutting parameters for improved efficiency and tool life.
  • Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills beyond daily checks.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for print interpretation or program understanding.
