Salary Range: $54,000 - $81,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Traverse City that are seeking First Article Inspectors. Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dimensional and visual inspections of first article parts against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Generate and complete accurate First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and associated documentation.
• Utilize a variety of precision measuring instruments, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances, collaborating with relevant departments for resolution.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
• Verify material certifications, process specifications, and special finishes for compliance.
• Maintain the integrity and calibration status of inspection tools and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints and GD&T.
• Demonstrated experience with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM, optical comparators).
• Proven ability to perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to AS9102 or equivalent standards.
• Solid understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and inspection methodologies.
• Strong documentation skills for FAI reports and non-conformance records.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience operating or programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar professional certification
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software for model interrogation and data extraction
• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies
