Salary Range: $57,000 - $89,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Paw Paw seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, repair, and modify dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues during production.
• Maintain and calibrate tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
• Collaborate with engineers and production personnel on tool design and improvement.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application.
• Ability to perform precision measurements using various inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
• Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
• Certification in a specialized tooling discipline (e.g., jig and fixture design, mold making).
• Demonstrated ability to train and mentor less experienced tool makers.
• Experience with automation or robotic systems in a manufacturing environment.
