Salary Range: $55,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Norton Shores that are seeking skilled Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, alter, and repair a wide range of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDMs.
• Perform precision measurements using a variety of inspection tools to ensure accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues and recommend design improvements.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool longevity and performance.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment and ensure a clean and safe work environment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, specializing in tool making.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in precision manufacturing.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
• Familiarity with a variety of machining processes beyond traditional milling and turning, such as EDM, laser cutting, or grinding.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving tooling issues.
• Ability to interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
• Certification or advanced training in precision machining, metrology, or a related field.
