Quality Technician | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $68,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
  • Document inspection results, maintain quality records, and generate non-conformance reports.
  • Operate and maintain various inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for identified quality issues.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and provide disposition for incoming materials.
  • Support the calibration and maintenance of quality control instrumentation.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification or Associate's degree in a related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality assurance or inspection role
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical specifications
  • Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CMM programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso).
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or equivalent process improvement experience.
  • Experience with advanced statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • Internal auditing experience (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
