Salary Range: $58,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and repair complex tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate and maintain a variety of precision machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with existing tooling to minimize downtime.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool longevity and performance.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on tools and dies to extend their lifespan.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completed Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent journeyman experience.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Expertise in precision machining operations, including manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
• Skilled in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments to ensure tight tolerances.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and material properties.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with CNC machining and programming (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360)
• - Proficiency in CAD software for tool design and modification
• - Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steels
• - Familiarity with additive manufacturing techniques for tooling components
• - Experience with quality inspection equipment and procedures (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
