Salary Range: $74,000 - $113,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for new and existing products.
• Select and qualify appropriate packaging materials based on product requirements, cost, and sustainability goals.
• Conduct packaging performance testing (e.g., transit, shelf-life, material strength) to ensure product protection and compliance.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain teams to integrate packaging designs.
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to packaging materials and processes.
• Ensure all packaging complies with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for packaging issues on the production line.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 3-5+ years of experience in packaging engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a regulated industry.
• Proficiency with CAD software for packaging design and a strong understanding of various packaging materials (e.g., plastics, paperboard, flexibles) and their properties.
• Experience with packaging validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) and knowledge of packaging test methods and standards (e.g., ASTM, ISTA).
• Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment, with the ability to optimize packaging for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with sustainable and eco-friendly packaging materials and design principles.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Proficiency with packaging simulation software (e.g., CAPE, TOPS, or FEA for structural analysis).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
