Supplier Quality Engineer | Whitehall, MI

Salary Range: $75,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supplier quality requirements and standards.
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality systems.
• Monitor and analyze supplier performance data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
• Manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and ensure timely and effective resolution.
• Collaborate with internal engineering and procurement teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
• Qualify new suppliers and new part introductions through robust validation processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers to enhance product quality and reduce risks.
• Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including PPAPs and First Article Inspections.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in supplier quality management, including auditing, non-conformance resolution, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) implementation.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and relevant manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, PPAP, and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting, utilizing tools like Excel, Minitab, or similar software.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with statistical process control (SPC) software.
• - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
• - Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
• - Experience in supplier auditing (ISO 9001 or industry-specific).
• - Proficiency in CAD software for design review.
