Tooling Engineer | Allendale, MI
Salary Range: $69,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize tooling for manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with production and design teams to ensure tooling meets product specifications and production requirements.
- Analyze and troubleshoot tooling-related issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvements.
- Select and specify appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for tooling components.
- Conduct root cause analysis of tooling failures and implement preventative measures.
- Develop and maintain tooling documentation, including drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend new tooling technologies and equipment to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling design and analysis.
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, materials, and their impact on tooling performance.
- Experience with tool life management, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and manufacturing (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, Mastercam).
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding, such as stamping, casting, or machining.
- Knowledge of advanced materials science and their application in tooling (e.g., high-performance alloys, ceramics, composites).
- Certification in a relevant field like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Project Management.
- Proficiency in programming CNC machinery or robotic systems for automated tooling processes.
