Salary Range: $57,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are partnering with organizations in Lansing that are seeking Tool and Die Makers. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Design and build new tools, dies, and fixtures.
- Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure production continuity.
- Operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine tooling specifications.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues affecting part quality or production efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
Recommended Qualifications
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in Tool and Die Making or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in the setup, operation, and maintenance of manual and CNC machining equipment
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings, including GD&T
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various tooling materials
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex tooling and dies
- Experience with precision measurement tools and techniques to ensure dimensional accuracy
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) for design and programming
- Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, EDMs)
- Knowledge of advanced metrology tools and techniques (e.g., CMM, laser scanning)
- Certification in a specialized area (e.g., jig and fixture design, mold making)
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
