Salary Range: $64,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and fabricates dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operates a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine job specifications.
  • Performs precision measurements using metrology tools like calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex tooling issues to maintain production efficiency.
  • Selects appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool longevity and performance.
  • Collaborates with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or vocational program in tool and die making preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of various metals, their properties, and machining characteristics.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a wide range of manual and CNC machines (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control procedures.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for design and programming
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, EDM)
  • Knowledge of metrology and advanced inspection techniques (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Welding certification or extensive experience (e.g., TIG, MIG) for repair and fabrication
