Salary Range: $79,000 - $119,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and document laser welding processes and parameters for various materials.
  • Troubleshoot laser welding equipment, processes, and production issues to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Design, procure, and validate laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards and specifications for laser welded components.
  • Analyze weld defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing and production teams on laser welding best practices.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on laser welding systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laser welding principles, laser-material interaction, and metallurgy.
  • Proven experience in developing, optimizing, and validating laser welding processes for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming industrial laser welding systems, including integration with robotics and automation.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis of weld defects, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for fixture design and weld path generation, and relevant industry quality standards (e.g., AWS, ISO).

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic integration and automation for laser welding cells.
  • Proficiency in vision systems for part alignment, inspection, or quality verification.
  • Knowledge of other advanced welding processes (e.g., Electron Beam, TIG).
  • Demonstrated experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Six Sigma methodologies.
