Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes, parameters, and tooling for new and existing products.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for laser weld defects and production issues.
  • Specify, evaluate, and procure new laser welding equipment, systems, and related peripherals.
  • Design, validate, and implement laser weld fixtures and part holding solutions.
  • Establish and maintain quality control standards and inspection methods for laser welded components.
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and support to manufacturing and maintenance teams.
  • Collaborate with design engineering on product manufacturability and material selection for laser weld applications.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in industrial laser welding process development and optimization.
  • Deep understanding of laser-material interaction, welding metallurgy, and defect analysis for various alloys.
  • Proficiency in operating, programming, and troubleshooting industrial laser welding systems (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG).
  • Experience with tooling/fixture design and integration of laser welding into automated manufacturing lines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement in a production environment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic programming or automation integration for laser systems.
  • Proficiency in advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as CT scanning or phased array UT.
  • Familiarity with process simulation software for weld optimization (e.g., FEA).
  • Certification in Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
