Supplier Quality Engineer | Battle Creek, MI
Salary Range: $75,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement supplier quality assurance programs and procedures.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Review and approve supplier documentation, including First Article Inspections (FAIs), control plans, and process capabilities.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and reduce defect rates.
- Qualify new suppliers and components through rigorous evaluation and testing processes.
- Manage incoming material inspection and testing processes to verify conformance to specifications.
- Facilitate supplier development initiatives to enhance their quality systems and capabilities.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in supplier quality management, auditing, and qualification within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and their application to suppliers.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Experience with supplier performance monitoring, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Bonus Qualifications
- - Experience with statistical process control (SPC) software and advanced analytical tools.
- - Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus).
- - Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- - Experience with international quality standards and regulations relevant to the manufacturing industry (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100).
- - Proficiency in utilizing CAD software for design reviews and understanding technical drawings.
