Design Engineer | Burton, MI

Salary Range: $75,000 - $114,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing firms in the Burton area that seek skilled Design Engineers. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and look for professionals who can contribute effectively. Usual Responsibilities

• Run tolerance stack-ups and basic design calculations.
• Support prototype builds and test new components.
• Update drawings and documentation to match current production.
• Respond to supplier questions about specifications and dimensions.
• Create and revise 3D models and 2D drawings for parts and assemblies.
• Review designs for manufacturability and suggest changes to reduce cost and waste.
• Work with production and quality teams to resolve design issues on the floor.
• Prepare and maintain bills of materials and engineering change notices.

Recommended Qualifications

• Experience working with production or manufacturing teams.
• Strong attention to detail and clear written communication.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and create detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Bonus Qualifications

• Familiarity with PLM or PDM systems.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping or shop floor tools.
• Experience supporting engineering change processes.
• Experience with sheet metal, machined parts, or welded assemblies.
