Role Overview

As a Capital Asset Accounting Specialist, you'll take ownership of asset lifecycle tracking, lease accounting operations, and related financial processes that support compliance and internal reporting. This is a hands-on role that offers daily engagement with cross-functional teams, insight into job costing workflows, and the ability to influence both operational data flow and financial integrity. Core Responsibilities

  • Track and reconcile capital assets throughout their lifecycle from acquisition and capitalization to disposal

  • Record depreciation, lease amortization, and asset-related journal entries monthly

  • Maintain compliance with ASC 842, overseeing lease classification and reporting requirements

  • Align capital asset records with operational data from Engineering and Service teams

  • Perform month-end close duties and support multi-entity general ledger reconciliation

  • Review and audit asset and lease transactions for accuracy and completeness

  • Maintain schedules, tools, and templates used for asset reporting and internal analysis

  • Investigate discrepancies across asset systems and correct posting issues proactively

  • Provide support on job costing, service billing workflows, and related accounting functions

  • Assist in documenting internal processes and recommending system or procedural improvements

Key Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Accounting required; Bachelors preferred

  • 24+ years of accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing or asset-focused industries

  • Familiarity with GAAP, general ledger structure, and fixed asset accounting standards

  • Proficient in Excel comfortable building and interpreting pivot tables, formulas, and reports

  • Prior experience with ERP systems (Sage 100 or equivalent is a plus)

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy

  • Analytical mindset with a curiosity-driven approach to problem-solving

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to lease accounting and ASC 842 compliance

  • Background in manufacturing, equipment tracking, or cost accounting

  • Experience supporting job costing and working in cross-functional teams

  • Familiarity with evolving financial systems or scaling business environments

  • Track record of spotting inconsistencies and driving process improvements
