Job Overview
As a Powder Coat Technician II 2nd Shift, you'll take ownership of critical steps in the powder application process, ensuring parts are properly prepared, coated, and meet quality standards. From prepping substrates to troubleshooting production issues, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting safety, efficiency, and product excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety awareness

Prepare substrates for coating by hanging, washing, plugging, taping, scrubbing, and sanding parts

Perform ongoing training to stay sharp on powder application best practices

Identify and report defective materials or conditions to supervisors or designers

Execute inspection and quality checks per documentation and control plans

Uphold efficiency targets and production flow standards

Support continuous improvement efforts in both quality and safety

Manage color changes and powder application processes with minimal supervision

Apply technical knowledge of wash process and chemical usage

Resolve issues within the work center and troubleshoot coating problems

Retain job-specific technical knowledge to improve over time

Ensure finished work consistently meets or exceeds company PPM (Parts Per Million) quality goals
Recommended Qualifications

2+ years of experience in powder coating or industrial finishing

Familiarity with safety standards in a manufacturing or production environment

Strong understanding of coating materials and wash/chemical processes

Comfortable working independently with limited supervision

Ability to read and interpret quality control plans and documentation
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with automated powder coating systems

Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma practices

Experience conducting root cause analysis for production issues

Prior exposure to color changeover processes in a high-mix environment
