Salary Range: $58,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and construct precision metal stamping dies, tools, and fixtures.
  • Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and computer-aided design (CAD) files to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on existing dies and tooling to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct quality inspections of finished tools and dies using precision measuring instruments.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to optimize tooling designs for manufacturability and efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship in Tool and Die Making or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in progressive die, compound die, or related tooling fabrication
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and application
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM)
  • Ability to operate manual and CNC machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM)

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for design and programming
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, EDM)
  • Knowledge of various metal fabrication processes, including welding, heat treatment, and surface finishing
  • Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies (e.g., CMM, GD&T, SPC)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and schematics, including 3D models
