Salary Range: $58,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Cadillac seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to plan and execute the fabrication of precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment, to machine parts to tight tolerances.
• Assemble, fit, and align intricate components to construct complete tools, dies, or specialized machinery.
• Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and modification of existing production tooling to ensure optimal functionality and extend lifespan.
• Conduct thorough inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and quality of manufactured tools.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling and production processes, implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool components based on design specifications and application requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Apprenticeship completion or 3-5 years of direct Tool Maker experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in operating a range of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Expertise in precision measurement using various instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and a solid understanding of metallurgy.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for tooling design and CNC programming.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced CNC programming proficiency (G-code, CAM software)
• Experience with CMM operation and advanced metrology equipment
• Basic welding and fabrication skills (TIG/MIG)
• CAD design experience for fixtures and tooling
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steels
