Salary Range: $60,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines using CAM software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding fixtures based on material, part geometry, and machine capabilities.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and operational instructions for machine operators.
  • Simulate and verify CNC programs to detect and correct potential collisions, errors, and inefficiencies before production.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and optimize part production processes.
  • Troubleshoot and debug CNC programs during initial run-offs, making necessary adjustments to improve cycle time and part quality.
  • Perform post-processing of CAM data to generate machine-specific G-code.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives for programming processes and machining strategies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM).
  • Strong understanding and application of G-code and M-code programming.
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • In-depth knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and workholding strategies.
  • Experience programming multi-axis (3, 4, and/or 5-axis) CNC milling machines.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and setting up jobs.
  • Experience with 5-axis machining and programming.
  • CAD design experience for fixtures or part modifications.
  • Proficiency in multiple CAM software platforms.
