Salary Range: $65,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of tools and equipment.
  • Manage the inventory of tools, dies, fixtures, and other manufacturing aids, implementing robust tracking and replenishment systems.
  • Supervise and train tool room personnel, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a safe and productive work environment.
  • Implement and enforce preventative maintenance schedules for all tool room equipment to minimize downtime and extend lifespan.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand tooling needs, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, and modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies within the tool room.
  • Procure new tools and equipment as required, managing vendor relationships and budget constraints.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a tool room or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of tooling, machinery, and fabrication processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team supervision skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and manage a team of toolmakers and technicians.
  • Excellent organizational and inventory management skills, including experience with tool crib systems, calibration, and preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and standards relevant to tool manufacturing and maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities related to tooling issues and production challenges.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • - Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
  • - Certification in tool and die making or related trade.
  • - Strong understanding of preventative maintenance schedules for tooling.
  • - Experience with quality control procedures and root cause analysis.
