Tool Room Supervisor | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $64,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring efficient workflow and timely tool availability.
• Manage inventory of tools, dies, fixtures, and spare parts, implementing robust tracking and reordering systems.
• Supervise and train tool room personnel, assigning tasks, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures within the tool room environment.
• Coordinate with production and engineering departments to fulfill tooling requirements and resolve issues.
• Maintain and repair existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Manage the procurement of new tooling and equipment, including vendor selection and negotiation.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all tool room machinery and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in tool room operations and management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, machining processes, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management, procurement, and cost control.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs for tooling and equipment.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Kaizen events.
• - Knowledge of 5S implementation and maintenance.
• - Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques.
• - Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
• - Experience with ERP/MRP systems for inventory and procurement.
