Payroll Specialist | Hart, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $74,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including shift differentials and overtime.
• Manage and reconcile timekeeping systems and data, ensuring proper calculation of hours worked in a manufacturing environment.
• Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Calculate and process all payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, garnishments, and union dues.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports, journal entries, and reconciliations for general ledger posting.
• Handle new hire onboarding, terminations, and employee data changes within the payroll system.
• Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies promptly and professionally.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience processing end-to-end payroll, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with major payroll software (e.g., ADP, UKG, Workday) and integrated timekeeping systems.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA compliance for hourly workforces.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills in a high-volume processing environment.
• Experience calculating and processing complex pay structures, including shift differentials, overtime, and incentive pay.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with specialized Time & Attendance systems (e.g., Kronos, UKG, ADP eTime)
• Familiarity with payroll processing for unionized workforces
• Understanding of General Ledger integration and labor cost allocation in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with HRIS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor) that include payroll modules
