Supplier Quality Engineer | Fremont, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supplier quality assurance programs and procedures.
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Manage incoming material inspection and testing processes.
• Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues and non-conformances.
• Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in their quality performance.
• Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including PPAP and FAI reports.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and provide regular reports to management.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans for supplier defects.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in supplier quality management, including supplier audits, performance monitoring, and corrective action implementation.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and relevant industry standards.
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA) tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys), and problem-solving methodologies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and control plans.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• - Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) software.
• - Certification in ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar.
• - Experience with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
• - Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Minitab, Tableau).
