Salary Range: $57,000 - $89,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repair, and modification of existing tooling and machinery.
  • Operate a variety of manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to create tooling.
  • Conduct precise measurements using metrology instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance, wear, and production quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams on tool design improvements and problem-solving.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in tool making, precision machining, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders) for precision fabrication and repair.
  • Expertise in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Solid understanding of various tool steels, heat treatment, and advanced assembly techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Completion of a recognized Tool & Die apprenticeship or an Associate's degree/technical certification in a related discipline.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience operating and programming CNC machinery.
  • TIG welding experience for tool repair and modification.
  • Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
