Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes for manufacturing applications.
  • Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis on weld defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Program and operate laser welding equipment, including robots and CNC systems.
  • Establish and maintain detailed welding parameters and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, design, and production teams on new product introduction.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial laser welding processes (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG) and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in laser weld process development, optimization, and validation for high-volume production.
  • Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, material science, and their application to various metal alloys.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting laser welding systems, including laser sources, beam delivery optics, and motion control.
  • Experience with CAD software and automation/robotics programming for laser welding applications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic programming and integration for automated laser welding systems.
  • Demonstrated experience welding exotic or challenging materials (e.g., superalloys, medical-grade alloys, dissimilar metals).
  • Proficiency in advanced weld characterization techniques (e.g., CT scanning, SEM/EDS) and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for fixture design and tooling optimization.
