Salary Range: $61,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and repair complex tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Operate precision machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines to create components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to understand design requirements.
  • Perform precise measurements and quality checks using various measuring instruments to ensure adherence to tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tooling during production runs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and sharpen existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to provide input on design improvements and manufacturability.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar precision machining role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Expertise in operating and maintaining various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair tooling issues.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and precision measuring instruments.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming
  • Experience with CNC machining centers and EDM equipment
  • Knowledge of heat treating processes for tooling
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement
  • Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks
