Salary Range: $58,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for lathe operations using CAM software and manual G-code.
  • Select appropriate tooling, workholding, and cutting parameters for various materials and part geometries.
  • Analyze engineering blueprints and 3D models to determine efficient machining strategies.
  • Collaborate with machinists to troubleshoot program issues and improve process efficiency.
  • Create and maintain accurate setup sheets, tool lists, and program documentation.
  • Conduct test runs and make necessary program adjustments to ensure part quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and extend tool life.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes.
  • Demonstrated expertise with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM) for generating toolpaths.
  • Ability to accurately interpret complex engineering blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
  • Strong understanding of cutting tool selection, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies for various materials.
  • Experience with machine setup, program prove-out, and troubleshooting of CNC lathe operations.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience programming multi-axis mill-turn or 5-axis milling machines.
  • Proficiency in CAD design for fixture development or part modification.
  • Demonstrated experience in G-code optimization or post-processor development.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
