Salary Range: $60,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs (G-code) for lathe operations using CAM software.
  • Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and workholding methods.
  • Perform program simulations and verifications to ensure accuracy and prevent collisions.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine optimal machining strategies.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and program documentation.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot and improve machining processes.
  • Continuously seek to improve cycle times, tool life, and part quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit) for toolpath generation.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, speeds, feeds, and material properties.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with program optimization, troubleshooting, and process improvement for lathe operations.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience programming multi-axis or live tooling CNC lathes.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize cycle times and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Familiarity with CMM programming or advanced metrology techniques.
  • Proficiency with specific advanced machine controls (e.g., Mazak Mazatrol, Okuma OSP).
  • Experience with CAM post-processor editing or customization.
