Salary Range: $81,000 - $121,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across the Petoskey area seeking Purchasing Managers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Usual Responsibilities

• Review supplier performance and maintain approved vendor lists.
• Manage the purchasing budget and report cost variances.
• Coordinate with production and engineering on material needs.
• Maintain purchasing records and contract documentation.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and vendors.
• Issue purchase orders and track delivery schedules.
• Monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as needed.
• Resolve supply shortages and late shipments with vendors.

Recommended Qualifications

• Knowledge of raw material and component markets.
• Solid spreadsheet and cost analysis skills.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field.
• Five or more years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and purchase order software.

Bonus Qualifications

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and inventory practices.
• Contract review and legal terms experience.
• Experience in a high-volume production environment.
• APICS or ISM certification.
• Experience sourcing from overseas suppliers.
