Salary Range: $73,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops tooling, fixtures, and jigs for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborates with design and production teams to optimize tooling for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for tooling-related issues.
  • Manages tooling procurement, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Implements and maintains tooling documentation, including drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  • Utilizes CAD/CAM software for tooling design and simulation.
  • Supports new product introduction by ensuring tooling readiness and capability.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives for tooling performance and efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and manufacturing within a high-volume production environment.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for designing and analyzing tooling.
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including stamping, injection molding, casting, and machining.
  • Experience with tool and die making, including material selection, heat treatment, and surface finishing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize tooling for improved performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and manufacturing (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, Mastercam).
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding, such as stamping, casting, or machining.
  • Knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques for tooling verification (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
  • Certification in a relevant area, such as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or a Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies applied to tooling development.
