Welding Engineer | DeWitt, MI
Salary Range: $81,000 - $121,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We partner with manufacturers across DeWitt seeking Welding Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs and develops welding procedures and specifications (WPS/PQR) for new and existing products.
- Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for welding defects and non-conformances.
- Evaluates and selects appropriate welding processes, equipment, and consumables based on project requirements.
- Provides technical support and training to welding technicians and manufacturing personnel.
- Develops and maintains welding quality control plans and inspection criteria.
- Collaborates with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize weldability and manufacturability.
- Researches and implements new welding technologies and automation solutions.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on welding processes and metallurgy.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) certification.
- Proficient in various welding techniques (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW) and their application to different materials.
- Strong understanding of welding codes, standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API), and quality control procedures.
Bonus Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with robotic welding systems and programming.
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design and analysis.
- Project management experience, including leading cross-functional teams.
