Materials Manager | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs and obsolescence.
• Develop and implement material planning strategies, including MRP, to ensure timely availability of components.
• Collaborate with procurement, production, and sales teams to align material flow with production schedules and customer orders.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitoring performance metrics such as on-time delivery and quality.
• Lead and mentor the materials team, including inventory control, shipping, and receiving personnel.
• Implement and maintain robust inventory control systems and procedures, including cycle counting and physical inventories.
• Analyze material usage and forecast future demand to prevent shortages and overstock situations.

Recommended Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for inventory control, planning, and reporting.
• Strong understanding of demand planning, forecasting, inventory optimization, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills with a track record of improving supply chain efficiency.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
• Experience with advanced data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Proven experience in global sourcing and international logistics initiatives
