Metrology Technician | Zeeland, MI

Salary Range: $56,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine calibration, verification, and maintenance of precision measurement equipment and gauges.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts, components, and assemblies using CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Document and maintain accurate calibration records, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve measurement discrepancies and equipment malfunctions to ensure accuracy.
  • Develop and execute measurement programs for automated inspection systems like CMMs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to interpret blueprints and resolve metrology-related issues.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ISO standards, quality management systems, and internal metrology procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from precision measurement equipment (e.g., CMMs, calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong understanding of metrology principles, calibration processes, and quality control standards.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing quality or metrology lab environment.
  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent certification/experience in metrology.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Advanced CMM programming experience (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, PolyWorks)
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for MSA and SPC
  • Experience with CAD software for model-based inspection or fixture design
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
