Salary Range: $60,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, repair, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operate conventional and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine specifications.
  • Perform precise measurements using a variety of inspection tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling to determine root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool construction and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool designs for manufacturing efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
  • Demonstrated ability to build, repair, and maintain complex dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and CAD models.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Experience with TIG or laser welding for tool repair and modification.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels.
  • Experience operating advanced precision machinery such as EDM (Wire/Sink) or jig grinders.
  • Familiarity with CMM operation and advanced metrology techniques.
