Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications to design and fabricate tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate and maintain a variety of precision machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines.
• Perform complex machining operations, including turning, milling, grinding, and EDM, to achieve tight tolerances.
• Inspect and measure workpieces using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Repair and maintain existing tools, dies, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot issues and optimize tool and die designs.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool and die construction.
• Train and mentor apprentices and junior tool and die makers.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar precision machining role.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining various machine tools (e.g., CNC mills, lathes, grinders, EDM machines).
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treating processes, and material properties.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments and techniques (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs).
• Knowledge of tool steels and their applications in die design and manufacturing.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with CNC programming and operation for die components
• - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tool design and manufacturing
• - Knowledge of various heat treatment processes for tooling
• - Familiarity with advanced machining techniques like EDM or laser cutting
