Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications to design and fabricate tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Operate and maintain a variety of precision machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines.
- Perform complex machining operations, including turning, milling, grinding, and EDM, to achieve tight tolerances.
- Inspect and measure workpieces using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Repair and maintain existing tools, dies, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot issues and optimize tool and die designs.
- Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool and die construction.
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior tool and die makers.
Recommended Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar precision machining role.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining various machine tools (e.g., CNC mills, lathes, grinders, EDM machines).
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treating processes, and material properties.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and techniques (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs).
- Knowledge of tool steels and their applications in die design and manufacturing.
Bonus Qualifications
- - Experience with CNC programming and operation for die components
- - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tool design and manufacturing
- - Knowledge of various heat treatment processes for tooling
