Inspection Technician | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $42,000 - $65,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify product specifications.
  • Accurately document all inspection results, including non-conformances, in quality control records and systems.
  • Identify, quarantine, and report non-conforming materials or products according to established procedures.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure product compliance.
  • Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to investigate and resolve quality issues.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in quality or manufacturing preferred.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) or vision inspection systems.
  • Certification in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
