Help Desk Technician | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $74,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network issues impacting manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues specific to production line equipment, including HMIs, scanners, and specialized factory software.
• Manage and maintain user accounts, access, and permissions for various manufacturing and business systems.
• Install, configure, and deploy workstations, printers, and mobile devices across office and production floor environments.
• Document all support requests, resolutions, and contribute to knowledge base articles for manufacturing-specific IT challenges.
• Perform routine system checks and preventative maintenance on IT assets to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or relevant vendors, ensuring timely resolution for production critical systems.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
• Experience supporting common business applications, including Microsoft Office suite and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse users.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and IT service management (ITSM) best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic network connectivity problems (LAN, Wi-Fi) and industrial computing devices.
• Understanding of the criticality of IT systems in a manufacturing or production environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience supporting ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
• Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or operational technology (OT) environments.
• Experience with industrial hardware (e.g., barcode scanners, label printers, ruggedized devices).
• Basic understanding of IT/OT convergence and industrial networking concepts.
• Experience in a 24/7 production or operational environment.
